Create a Healthy, Rosy Glow from Head to Toe

Allison is trained as an esthetician and is committed to taking care of her body.  Since your skin is your largest organ of elimination, she understands the importance of regular cleansing and detoxification.  Just before her move to LA, she wanted a mask that would both exfoliate and detoxify, so I whipped this one up for her.

So as you can see today's post is another whole food body product.  This body and face mask is made from real food ingredients that nourish and rejuvenate your skin from your head to your toes!  Each ingredient provides elements to detoxify, exfoliate, feed and moisturize your skin.  Unlike the typical mask, it costs only pennies to make so you can feel free to use it on your whole body.

Because it is made from real whole food ingredients, be sure to refrigerate and use within 7-10 days.

Pumpkin, Apple, Honey and Oat Mask
Pumpkin, Apple, Honey and Oat Mask
This concoction has so many components that nourish, detoxify and exfoliate your skin that it can be used 2 or more times a month.  At the same time it stimulates circulation and removes some of the burden from your lymphatic system.
Yield - this makes enough for 2 scrubs

1/4 cup organic oats (gluten free for those who need that option)
1 tablespoon flax seeds
1/4 large apple, cored
1/4 cup pumpkin puree
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon honey
1/3 cup very hot pH 5.5 ionized water (filtered water will also work)

In your VitaMix or other powerful blender process until the oats are completely smooth.  While still warm, spread over your face, and neck in a thin layer.  Relax and  dry and then admire your fresh, rosy skin!  Here are its benefits:

  • The oats contain beta glucan - a powerful immune builder
  • The apple and pumpkin contain fruit acids that promote a deeper exfoliation
  • The flax seeds tighten the skin, introduce Omega 3 fatty acids to plump the skin
  • The ginger promotes circulation
  • The honey is a powerful antioxidant, wound healer, emollient and preservative
  • The skin's pH is naturally about 5-6, so this water is super hydrating to the skin and leaves it pH balanced.

This mask is a great one to use from head to toe!  Use circular motions to distribute in a thin even layer and leave it on until it begins to dry, about 20 minutes.

Using a soft wash cloth and warm water remove, using circular motions to stimulate circulation.  Rinse thoroughly and pat dry.  Your skin will feel soft, have a rosy glow and feel wonderful.  Moisturize as usual.

Hope you enjoy this one!
