Breakfast in Sedona . . . An Existential Experience at Chocola Tree!

When I awakened early in my hotel in Sedona and began my morning ritual, my dogs were still sleeping and had even taken over the entire bed!

But I was ready to go and do a bit of exploration, have a great breakfast and visit another New Frontiers location.

My first stop was New Frontiers Natural Marketplace where I found some new and wonderful treasures . . . like a goat's milk feta brined in sea water!  These natural foods markets are absolutely beautiful, even the way they display the produce is nothing short of  a work of art!

I asked one of the managers where I could find the best and healthiest breakfast in town and a customer directed me across the street to Chocola Tree Organic Oasis and this is where I had the most fantastic meal of this trip!  Let me start by saying EVERYTHING in the place is GF, DF, Soy Free, Corn Free, Sugar-less and organic!  They literally make every menu item from scratch and there is a wide selection of vegetarian and vegan foods, some cooked, many raw and they even serve daily specials that include a veggie juice of the day as well as an entree of the day!

I had a Viva Burrito . . . and eating it was something of an existential experience . . . with every bite I felt myself kind of "buzzing" with health, vibrance and peace!  I know that's a lot to expect from breakfast, but as you can see from the photo, this was no ordinary breakfast!

The menu description reads - Homemade Tomato Wrap filled with Fresh Tomatoes, Red Bell Peppers, Red Onion, Shredded Cabbage, Creamy Vegan Cheese, Pico de Gallo & Fresh Guacamole.  Now that sounded fantastic but it was MUCH better than I expected!

The wrap was made from flax and chia seeds that was dehydrated into a chewy and fairly flexible "tortilla" shape.  The vegan cheese was so creamy and delightful, the guacamole some of the best I've ever tasted and the dish as a whole was simply delicious, and not in that it's good for "healthy food" way, but in the way that your taste buds and your soul are elevated kind of way!  The fresh veggies were really fresh - many things come directly from their garden - where you can also dine al fresco among the fruit, veggie and herb gardens!

Because I had my furry companions along, we were escorted to another lovely outdoor patio area that caters to pets.  With each bite I was in heaven, so I decided to try one of their desserts (it was now nearly 11:00) - Raw Coconut Cream Pie.

Topped with chewy gogi berries this dessert was creamy and delicious!  Now it was a distant second to the wrap but still wonderful!

After such a satisfying and altogether healthful brunch I was ready to drive on to San Diego where I'll be spending the next few months!

So the next time you are in Arizona, take time to visit Sedona!  And when you do you too can enjoy an existential meal!
