A Review of Austin's DF Ice Cremes as I Say Goodbye to Austin and Hello to Albuquerque and Santa Fe!

After leaving Dallas, I was fortunate to spend a week in Austin with my daughter Angela.  While I was there she introduced me to a great new addition to the Austin foodie revolution - Sweet Ritual!

Tucked inside a long standing healthy Austin eatery - The Daily Juice - Sweet Ritual is unassuming, cute and nostalgic . . . and they serve dairy-free vegan soft-serve ice creme in waffle cones (some are even GF) and bowls.  They offer lots of alternative toppings so you can create a special sundae.

When we went I ordered the special flavor of the day - Earl Grey Ice Creme and had it made into a sundae with salted caramel sauce and a sprinkling of lavender flowers . . .

And it was every bit as delicious as it looks!

This little shop is so amazing it was reviewed in this months Vegetarian Times!  So if you live in the Austin area drop by the shop and give it a try - or if you are just passing through the area, I think this is worth a little side trip!

Sweet Ritual (and The Daily Juice of course) is located at 4500 Duval and totally worth the effort!

The second place I wanted to let you know about is Wheatsville Coop.  It's a nice but smallish, very healthy, all organic produce kind of a shopping experience.  It is my favorite place to grocery shop in Austin.  And look what I found while I was there . . .

Wheatsville Food Coop is located at 3101 Guadalupe Street in Austin and I highly recommend shopping there.

While we are on the subject of Dairy Free Ice Creme, look what I found at Wheatsville . . .

Angela had given it a total thumbs-up, but I'm always very picky about my alternative ice creme, so I had to give it a try myself . . . and she was right!  It's smooth, creamy, not overly sweet and oh so delicious!

I'm in Albuquerque, New Mexico now and heading for Santa Fe in a few minutes.  So later I'll give you the scoop (pun intended) on La Montanita Coop!

Until then,

Dr. P
