This past week I was babysitting my sweet 6 year old Goddaughter Malena while her Mom was out of town. To distract her from missing her Mom so much we decided to plan and throw a fancy tea party.
Malena has a few food allergies so we had a GF tea party . . . but just because it was GF didn't mean we sacrificed anything!
We made Raspberry and Lemon Cream Cupcakes, Chocolate Cherry Cupcakes, OMG! You Must Be Kidding! Dark Chocolate Truffles and some very fancy popsicles! Of course we also had strawberry tea, made some very fancy hats and sipped tea with out pinkies out!

I transformed a plastic kids table with an old white sheet and 3 yards of tulle + a scrap of fabric.
I bought some straw hats on sale and we glammed them up with some very inexpensive small feather boas, craft store ribbon, silk flowers and some tulle.
After lots of giggles, tea sipping and filling up on healthy snacks, we made bracelets to match the hats . . .
and then we ate very fancy popsicles! These beauties (the popsicles that is) were made from equal parts coconut water and organic white grape juice + pieces of real fruit.
All of these healthy snacks were a little work but as you can tell, enjoyed by all!
So I want to encourage all of you young Moms out there to throw a tea party, or a hula hoop party or a matchbox car race or ____.
Seize these moments . . . they go by quickly and they are the stuff great memories are made from. I know this because my children are all adults and I let too many of these opportunities pass by.
So forego the bouncy houses, the expensive clown parties and just make some cupcakes and popsicles together . . . you'll both have something to smile about at the end of the day!
