I found this blog post and thought you may find it helpful in knowing what to do with some of the bounty from your own garden or some of the great finds from your local farmers' markets.
Personally, I wash everything in pH 11.5 or pH 9.5 ionized water to extend its life in and out of the refrigerator. However, I never wash berries or mushrooms until just before I eat them. They absorb too much water and get mushy!
