Wheat & Dairy Free Options for National Pancake Day

It's National Pancake Day!

When you go wheat and dairy free pancakes can be pretty disappointing . . . because they are dense, heavy or doughy, instead of light, fluffy and delicious!

Over the years I've developed my own recipes with great success.

I've also purchased and compared GF mixes side by side.

So when I wrote my cookbook, OMG! That's Allergy Free?, I even included a several page section called GF Waffles and Pancakes 101!  There you will find the recipe for these totally delicious PB&B Pancakes.

While I do love to make these yummy treats at home, I do miss going out for pancakes!

So imagine my surprise and delight when I found M Cafe in LA - and they had wheat free blueberry pancakes on the menu!

They are not GF, but are made from buckwheat, oat and white spelt flours, and sprinkled with fragrant coconut meal!

These lovely pancakes were studded with plump, juicy blueberries and served with delicious maple syrup.  Normally buckwheat pancakes can be really heavy, but these were fluffy, a little crisp on the outside and so delicious that my daughter, Allison, and I decided to place a second order!

M Cafe is a macrobiotic cafe with some amazing menu options, but I could not get past the pancakes!

So if you are anything like me, and wish you could go out for a delicious pancake breakfast or brunch be sure to keep M Cafe in mind!

If you live in the LA area, you have 2 locations to choose from - 7119 Melrose Avenue in Hollywood or 9433 Brighton Way in Beverly Hills.

If you are just passing through LA, be sure to stop by for some really yummy pancakes!

Happy Pancake Eating!
